Featuring Rendang, Your Main Jewel

Slowly braised beef — or young green jackfruit as a vegan option — cooked to perfection in coconut milk and a symphony of exotic Sumatran spices. Rendang is often called the world’s most delicious dish.

In a CNN International poll of over 50,000 people (2011), it was crowned the #1 dish in the world, and celebrated chefs like Gordon Ramsay have traveled deep into Sumatra, Indonesia to study and master its intricate, time-honored process.

Unlike a simple curry, rendang is a culinary art form requiring patience, precision, and reverence. Each step — slowly reducing the coconut, coaxing the spices, caramelizing the sauce until it clings like gold — is a ritual passed down through generations.

At Komodo Kitchen, this cultural masterpiece is served with nasi kuning (fragrant turmeric rice steamed in banana leaves), acar pickles, and bawang goreng — a dish that tells the story of Indonesia’s heart and soul.

Allergen & Ingredient Notice:

Our menu is naturally gluten-free and dairy-free. However, there might be a trace of wheat/gluten as it is used often as a natural preservative for all imported ingredients.

Indonesia is a vast archipelago of over 17,000 islands, each with its own distinctive culinary traditions, ingredients, and techniques. This diversity is what makes Indonesian cuisine such a vibrant mosaic of spices, herbs, roots, nuts, and natural aromatics drawn from the earth and sea. Because of this abundance, our dishes often share ingredients across many regional preparations. While we take great care in our cooking, our kitchen uses a wide range of ingredients which include nuts, shellfish, soy, and wheat. Even if a specific dish does not contain these, trace amounts or cross-contact may occur. Accommodating allergies is possible in certain cases; however, due to the complexity and authenticity of Indonesian cooking, it is difficult to guarantee a completely allergen-free meal. Please inform us in advance of any severe allergies so we can advise appropriately and prioritize your safety.
